IJSAPA is dedicated to advancing scholarship in social and administrative pharmacy across Africa.
The International Journal of Social and Administrative Pharmacy in Africa (IJSAPA) is a peer-reviewed, open access academic journal published quarterly (4 issues per year) by the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Administration, Faculty of Pharmacy, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Established in 2026, the journal provides a dedicated platform for disseminating rigorous research at the intersection of pharmacy practice, health systems, and social sciences across Africa.
Our mission is to publish evidence that informs pharmacy education, strengthens health policy, advances Pharmacy administration, and improves medicines use and patient outcomes. We envision IJSAPA as the leading continental forum where researchers, practitioners, educators, and policymakers exchange knowledge on the social and administrative dimensions of pharmacy.
IJSAPA publishes original research, reviews, case studies, and perspectives across the following thematic areas:
Manuscripts addressing pharmacy practice in low- and middle-income countries — particularly in sub-Saharan Africa — are especially encouraged. Interdisciplinary work bridging pharmacy with public health, economics, sociology, and health policy is welcome.
All submissions undergo rigorous double-blind peer review. The editorial process proceeds through the following stages:
IJSAPA is an open access journal. All published articles are freely available to read, download, and share immediately upon publication, without subscription barriers or paywalls. Readers may access, copy, distribute, and use published content for any lawful purpose, provided proper attribution is given to the original authors and source.
Article processing charges: IJSAPA applies article processing charges (APCs) to accepted manuscripts. APC rates and payment instructions are communicated to authors upon acceptance for publication. Submission to the journal does not incur a fee. Authors retain copyright of their published work, published under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC BY).
IJSAPA is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the core practices advocated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal maintains zero tolerance for plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and inappropriate authorship.
Plagiarism: All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts exceeding an acceptable similarity threshold will be rejected or returned for revision. Authors must properly cite and attribute all sources.
Authorship: All listed authors must meet authorship criteria — namely, substantial contributions to conception or design, data acquisition or analysis, drafting or critical revision, and final approval of the version submitted. Guest, gift, and ghost authorship are prohibited.
Conflicts of interest: All authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be perceived as influencing the research. Reviewers and editors with conflicts are recused from handling affected manuscripts.
Allegations of research or publication misconduct are investigated promptly and transparently. Where misconduct is confirmed, appropriate corrective action is taken, which may include retraction, correction, or notification of the authors' institutions.
IJSAPA maintains rigorous scholarly and technical standards in accordance with international best practices for open access publishing. Applications for indexing and abstracting are currently in progress with the following databases and services:
